Printing receipts and what is on them

How to open, reprint and print a StyleDesk receipt, what the client sees on it, the visit rating window, and automatic printing on a receipt printer.

A receipt is the client's record of what they had and what they paid. StyleDesk gives you two: a receipt page you can print from any browser, and, if you have a receipt printer, a slip that prints by itself when a bill is paid in full.

Open the receipt page

  • At the end of checkout, press Complete & View Receipt (see checkout).
  • Any time later, go to Point of Sale, click Manage on the bill, then Reprint Receipt. It opens in a new tab, so the invoice stays where it was (see finding a bill).

Anyone who can see sales can open it: owners, managers, receptionists and cashiers.

What is on it

  • The branch name, address and phone number.
  • Invoice No, Date, Customer and Status (Paid, Partial and so on).
  • Each service with the staff member who did it and its price after any discount.
  • Subtotal, Discount (only when there is one) and Total.
  • Payments Received: each payment with its method and time, so a split payment shows every part. Refunds appear as negative amounts.
  • Balance Due, in red, if the bill is not fully paid.
  • A closing line thanking the client in your branch's name.

The address and phone come from the branch, so fill them in for every branch (see branches and hours). A branch without them shows placeholder text instead.

Print it

  1. Click Print Receipt at the top of the page.
  2. Your browser's print window opens. Choose a printer, or save it as a PDF to send to the client on WhatsApp or by email.

The buttons at the top are left off the printout. Back to Dashboard takes you out of the page.

The rating window

When a bill is paid and completed and its services have not been rated yet, a How was your experience? window opens over the receipt. You can turn the screen to the client: they choose stars under Rate this service, add an optional Comment and press Submit Rating. Press Close to skip it.

Automatic printing on a receipt printer

If the branch has a default receipt printer connected through the StyleDesk print agent, a slip prints by itself the moment a bill becomes fully paid. Nobody has to press anything, and a missing or offline printer never stops the payment going through (see printers). Receipt printing is part of the Pro and Business plans.

Each bill prints this way once. For another copy, use Reprint Receipt and print from the browser.

The printed slip is laid out from Business Settings → Receipt Profile (see receipt settings). It carries your business and branch details, plus your tax registration number and website if you have set them; the customer's name and points balance; who served them; each line with any discount; the totals and payment methods; and your thank-you message, return policy and notes. Switches such as Show Customer Name, Show Staff Name, Show Discounts and Show Payment Method decide what appears.

Note. The Receipt Profile shapes the printed slip only. The receipt page in the browser always has the same layout.
