Setting up your salon in StyleDesk: the first hour

What to do first after your salon is created: business profile, service menu, team, customers, and the Setup guide that tracks it all.

A new salon in StyleDesk starts empty on purpose. Four things turn it into a working front desk, and the portal keeps score of them for you.

Sign in and find the Setup guide

  1. Open your StyleDesk address (the onboarding email has it; the sign-in page ends in /login/) and sign in as the owner.
  2. The dashboard shows a Finish setting up your salon banner, and the sidebar has a Setup guide entry. Open it. Every step says whether it is done, what is still missing, and has a button that takes you straight to the right page.

The four steps that matter

  1. Business profile. A short wizard: name and phone, address and city, opening hours, currency and tax, and how receipts should look. You can stop halfway; the guide remembers how far you got.
  2. Service menu. Categories, services, prices and durations. Type the whole menu into an Excel template and upload it in one go, or add services one by one. See adding services and categories.
  3. Your team. Each stylist, receptionist and cashier with their working hours and the services they do. See adding staff and logins and roles.
  4. Customers (optional but worth it). Bring your client list across from Excel so reminders, birthdays and loyalty points work from day one. See adding customers.

Optional steps appear underneath: SMS from your own number, your booking website and a receipt printer. They depend on your plan and add-ons, so the guide only shows the ones available to you.

Then take your first booking

Once a service and a staff member exist, the calendar is live. Follow booking an appointment and checkout to run one client from booking to receipt, and you have seen the whole loop.

Tip. Do the setup on a laptop; the day-to-day front desk works just as well on a tablet or phone.
