Setting special prices for a customer
How to give one customer a percentage off everything or a fixed price for a service, how to change, pause or remove it, and how it combines with promotions.
Some clients pay less than the menu price: family, staff, a bride's party, a regular who has earned it. Instead of the receptionist remembering and discounting by hand, set the price once on the customer's profile and StyleDesk applies it every time they are booked.
Two kinds of special price
- Global Discount: a percentage off every service, such as 10% off everything. A customer can have one.
- Service Price: a fixed price for one service, such as Rs 2,000 for a blow-dry that is normally Rs 2,500. A customer can have one for each service.
When a customer has both, the service price is used for that service and the global discount covers everything else.
Add one
- Open the customer's profile (see the customer profile) and click the Special Pricing tab.
- Click Global Discount or Service Price.
- For a global discount, enter the Discount Percentage: 10 for 10%. For a service price, choose the Service (the list shows each menu price) and enter the Special Price.
- Click Add. The rule appears in the table straight away, marked Active.
If the customer already has a global discount, or a price for that service, StyleDesk tells you so; edit the existing rule instead. Owners, managers and receptionists can manage special prices.
Change, pause or remove one
Each rule in the table shows its Type (the service name, or Global Discount), its Rate and its Status, with three actions:
- Edit opens Edit Pricing. Change the amount and click Save Changes. The service cannot be changed; to price a different service, add a new rule.
- Deactivate switches the rule off but keeps it, for example for a deal that only runs in wedding season. Activate switches it back on.
- Delete removes it for good, after you confirm.
Where the price is used
Special prices are applied whenever a service is priced for this customer:
- when you book an appointment for them;
- when you change the service on a booking before it is confirmed (see editing an appointment);
- on bills made on the Manual POS Terminal (see the Manual POS Terminal).
The price is fixed when the booking is made. Bookings made before you add, change or switch off a rule keep the price they were quoted, and that is the price that reaches the bill. On the bill it shows as a discount, so the client can see what they saved.
How it combines with other prices
- If a stylist has their own price for a service, a global discount is taken off that price. A service price replaces it.
- If a promotion is running on the service, StyleDesk compares the two and the client gets whichever is cheaper. If they come to the same price, the customer's own price is used (see promotions).
