Running promotions and discounts
How to create a dated discount on all services, some categories or chosen services, how StyleDesk applies it to bookings and bills, and how to pause or delete it.
A promotion is a discount that runs between two dates: 20% off colour services for Eid, or Rs 500 off a facial for the first week of the month. Once it is set up nobody at the front desk has to remember it. StyleDesk takes it off the price by itself whenever a qualifying service is booked or rung up.
Create a promotion
- In the sidebar click Promotions, then Create Promotion.
- Enter a Promotion Name, such as "Eid colour offer". The Description is optional and shows under the name in the list.
- Choose the Discount Type: Percentage (%) or Fixed Amount. Then enter the Discount Value: 20 for 20%, or 500 for Rs 500. It must be more than zero, and a percentage cannot be more than 100.
- Set the Start Date and End Date. Both days are included, and the end cannot be before the start.
- Leave Priority at 0 unless promotions overlap (see below).
- Under Scope, tick Target Categories, Target Services, or both. Leave both empty for a Global promotion on every service.
- Click Create Promotion.
A category promotion covers the services filed directly in that category, not those in its sub-categories. If your menu has Hair → Colour, ticking Hair does not discount the Colour services; tick Colour as well.
How it is applied
- Bookings. The discount is worked out when the appointment is booked, for the date of the appointment. A booking made today for a date inside the offer gets it; a booking for a date after the offer ends does not. The bill then carries the price quoted at booking.
- Manual POS Terminal. A service rung up on the terminal gets any promotion running today.
- One promotion per service. If several could apply, the one with the lowest Priority number wins (0 before 1, 1 before 5), whatever the hint under the field says. With equal priority, the one created first wins.
- Special prices. If the client also has a special price for the service, they get whichever is cheaper, never both. See customer pricing.
- Stylist prices. When a stylist charges their own price for a service, the percentage is taken from that price.
- A discount never takes a service below zero, and it shows in the Discount line of the bill.
Find, edit, pause and delete
The list shows each promotion's scope, discount, dates and Status: Active, Upcoming, Expired or Inactive (switched off). The tabs All Promotions, Active, Upcoming and Expired filter it; Expired also lists the ones switched off.
- Edit opens the same form; click Save Changes. Changes count for new bookings and bills only. Bookings already made keep the price they were quoted.
- The menu button next to Edit has Deactivate (or Activate) to pause a promotion without losing it, and Delete to remove it for good after you confirm.
Owners and managers can create, edit, pause and delete promotions. Receptionists can see the list, so the front desk knows what is running. Promotions are included in every plan.
