Finding a customer: search and filters
How to search customers by name, phone, email or code, what the New, VIP, Dormant and Archived filters show, and how branch selection affects the list.
A busy front desk spends a lot of time looking people up. StyleDesk has one search box on the Customers page, a row of quick filters, and the same fast lookup wherever you pick a customer.
Search the Customers list
- Click Customers in the sidebar.
- Type in the box that says Search by name, phone, email.... The list updates as you type, after a short pause.
- Click the cross in the box to clear the search.
The search matches:
- first or last name, or part of one;
- phone number, or part of one. Spaces, dashes, a + and a leading 0 or 92 are ignored, so 0300-1234567, 3001234567 and +92 300 1234567 all find the same person;
- email address;
- customer code, such as CUST-00042.
The list shows ten customers per page, newest first; use the arrows at the bottom to move between pages. Each row has the name and gender, the phone (tap to call on a phone or tablet) and email, the Status, the date Added, and the actions: the calendar icon to book an appointment, View, Edit and Archive.
Quick filters
- All Customers: everyone who is not archived.
- New This Month: customers added in the last 30 days.
- VIP: customers with the tag VIP.
- Dormant: customers whose status is Inactive.
- Archived: customers you have archived, each with a Restore button (see archiving and restoring).
Filters and search work together: click VIP, then type a name, to search only your VIPs.
Tags and the VIP filter
Tags such as VIP or Bridal are added through the Tags column of the Excel import (see adding customers). Uploading the sheet again adds new tags and never removes old ones. The VIP filter picks up anyone tagged VIP, in capitals or not. Other tags cannot be used as filters in the list.
Which customers you see
The list follows the branch selected at the top of the portal. With one branch selected, All Customers and the search show customers who have had an appointment, a bill, a payment or loyalty points at that branch. Someone you have just added, who has not visited yet, does not show there until they do. Switch to all branches to see everyone (see switching branch).
Picking a customer when you book or bill
In the booking window and on the Manual POS Terminal, the Customer box searches as you type:
- Type at least two characters. Up to 15 matches appear, each with phone, customer code and email.
- The best match is at the top: an exact phone number first, then numbers starting with what you typed, then the customer code, then names and email.
- Click a name, or use the arrow keys and Enter.
- This search covers all branches, so a client who usually visits another branch still turns up. Archived customers do not.
