Using the Working Queue

How the Working Queue on the Appointments page shows who is late, who is waiting, who is in the chair and who is still to arrive today, with one-click actions.

The calendar tells you what was planned. The Working Queue tells you what needs doing right now: who is late, who has been waiting too long, who is in the chair and who is still to come. It sits on the right of the Appointments page and is built for the receptionist's eye.

What it shows

The queue always shows today, for the branch you are working in (or every branch in All Branches). The number next to the Working Queue heading is how many of today's clients are still to be dealt with. Finished, cancelled and no-show bookings drop out of it. When there is nothing left you see Queue is empty for today.

Clients are grouped into three sections, each with its own count.

Action Required

  • Clients whose start time has passed and who have not been checked in. The card says how many minutes late they are, with Check In and No Show buttons.
  • Clients who are checked in but whose service still has not started more than 15 minutes after their booked time. The card says Waiting and for how long since their booked time, with a Start Service button.

The client whose booked time was earliest is at the top.

In Salon

  • Clients who have checked in, and are not yet 15 minutes past their booked time, show a Start button for when they sit down.
  • Clients whose service is in progress show a Checkout button, which opens their bill. See checkout.

Arriving Today

Everyone still to come, in time order, with their services and a Check In button for when they walk through the door.

Working through the day

  1. When a client arrives, press Check In on their card. They move to In Salon. You do not have to confirm the booking first.
  2. When the stylist takes them, press Start (or Start Service if they have been waiting a while).
  3. When the service is done, press Checkout and take payment. The client leaves the queue once the bill is complete.
  4. If a late client is not coming, press No Show and confirm. The stylist's time is freed for someone else.

Click anywhere else on a card to open the booking's Appointment Details panel, for example to reschedule or read the notes.

Keeping it up to date

The queue refreshes itself whenever a booking changes on your screen: a new booking, a check-in, a reschedule. The minutes-late and waiting counters, and changes made by a colleague on another device, update when it next refreshes, so reload the page if it has been sitting open for a while.

The Upcoming Queue button on the dashboard brings you straight to this page.

Tip. Keep an eye on Action Required rather than the clock. A client still waiting a quarter of an hour after their booked time is the one most likely to leave a bad review.
