Removing services and categories from your menu

How to archive a service or category you no longer offer, what StyleDesk checks first, and what stays on record afterwards.

When you stop offering a treatment, archive it rather than leaving it on the menu for someone to book by mistake. Archiving takes it off the menu, the booking window, the till and your booking website, while past bills keep it exactly as it was charged.

Archive a service

  1. Go to Services & Menu and open the category.
  2. Click Archive next to the service and confirm.
  3. The service disappears from the menu.

StyleDesk will not archive a service that still has upcoming bookings (scheduled, confirmed or in progress). Move those clients to another service, or finish or cancel the bookings, then try again. If you click Archive and the service stays on the list, this is almost always why.

Archive a category

  1. On Services & Menu, click Archive on the category's header row and confirm.

A category can only be archived once it is empty: no services and no sub-categories left in it. First move the services you are keeping to another category (open each one with Edit and change its Category), archive the ones you are dropping, and deal with any sub-categories the same way. If the category stays on the list after you click Archive, something is still inside it.

What stays on record

  • Past bills and receipts keep the service name and the price charged, so your sales history and reports do not change.
  • Commission already earned on the service stays with the stylist.

There is no undo button

An archived service or category cannot be brought back from the portal. If you start offering it again, add it as a new service (see adding services and categories) and choose its staff and branches again. Give it a slightly different name, such as "Keratin Treatment 2026": the archived service still holds the old name, and StyleDesk will not save two services with the same name. The same goes for a category with the same name under the same parent. Because of this, think twice before archiving something seasonal.

Instead of archiving

Note. Only the owner can archive services and categories, because only the owner can change the service menu.
